Revelation: The Art of James Magee

Organized by the Nasher Sculpture Center, Revelation: The Art of James Magee was the first major museum exhibition of the artist’s work in 18 years. Working with an array of found and castoff materials, Magee creates powerful, sensuous sculptural reliefs that have the appearance of archaeological relics. He gives many of them elaborate “titles,” prose poems that the he intones only for the rare, fortunate visitor. The Nasher Sculpture Center recorded and mastered 10–15 of the titles with proper sound equipment, and present the media to the public during the exhibition, September 4 – November 29, 2010, and beyond.
