Amon Carter Museum of American Art
The Amon Carter Museum of American Art’s Teaching Resource Center (TRC) is a unique feature of its ongoing education program. The TRC is a collection of books for adults and children, posters, teaching kits, digital resources, and audio-visual materials related to American art, history, culture, literature, and scientific development. These materials are available for educators to use in the classroom to aid in connecting the museum’s collection to their curriculum and the diverse audiences they serve. During the 2009-2010 school year, almost 8,000 educators and students utilized the materials from the TRC to bring greater meaning to their established curriculum and share American art with those who may not have the opportunity to experience it any other way. The 2011 MIDEA minigrant will allow the Amon Carter Museum to convert audio-visual media from the TRC into DVD formats, increasing use and access of the materials.
