Farm Security Administration Video Digitization Project

The Amarillo Museum of Art (AMoA) digitized content from film footage of a 1978 symposium organized by the Museum featuring original Farm Security Administration (FSA) photographers who documented American lives during the Great Depression. The  5- to 10- minute segments served as an educational complement to the Museum’s collection of more than 120 FSA images by leading documentary photographers of the period including Dorothea Lange, Arthur Rothstein, Walker Evans, Russell Lee, Marion Post Wolcott, and Ben Shahn. These segments were added to the AMoA web site as a supplement to the existing pachyderm on FSA photography and were made available for iPads to accompany exhibitions from AMoA’s collection of FSA photographs, starting with a showing this fall titled Dust and Depression: Farm Security Administration Photographs from the 1930s.
