The Grace Museum
The Grace Museum is planning a major art exhibition in celebration of the centennial of the construction of the Museumâs landmark downtown building in 1909. The exhibition, The Texas Seen 1909-1959, is comprised of 75 to 150 artworks and will open at The Grace Museum on September 1, 2009. The exhibition and educational programming focuses on important questions related to the history of art in Texas will be of major importance not only to collectors of the richly diverse art produced in Texas during those fifty years of rapid social and economic change, but to scholars and students as well.
In 2008 and 2009, the Education Department of The Grace Museum added a component to the 2007-2008 media project specifically for public schools. The focus of the new component, supported by video and online instruction, provides art activities and a printmaking lesson plan directly related to The Texas Seen for teachers. The site will assist the Grace Museum in serving approximately 60 school districts throughout the region.
