Amon Carter Museum of American Art

iPhone iTouch Tour

The Amon Carter Museum designed its first smart phone audio tour utilizing the Apple iPod Touch, a project that advanced the use of emerging technology in arts education by offering interactive and engaging new ways for visitors to make meaningful connections between their own lives and works of art.  This project allows museum educators and curators the ability to extend their reach to a greater number of patrons in the galleries, to offsite visitors who visit virtually through the museum’s website, and to a potential new global audience who access the tour content through iTunes U.

This minigrant project was a huge success.  It has provided opportunities for the Education Staff to work with visitor services and to track the time the visitors use the iPod Touch devices that are checked out from the front desk.  Listen to some of the audio clips provided on the tour.
