Kimbell Art Museum

Over the past 35 years, the Kimbell Art Museum has come to occupy a distinctive place in the international community of museums. Located in Fort Worth, this museum holds a small collection of less than 350 works, which include masterpieces of quality and importance at the very highest level. Leaving to older and larger institutions the role of collecting broadly and in depth, the Kimbell has chosen as its primary collecting aspiration the pursuit of quality over quantity. Particularly in its holdings of European old- and modern-master painting—and more selectively in its collections of ancient classical and Egyptian, Asian, African, and ancient American art—the Kimbell possesses a core of works which not only epitomize their eras and styles, but also touch individual high points of aesthetic beauty and historical importance that assure them a place among the masterpieces of world art.
