Holly Witchey is an art historian and museum consultant with more than 25 years experience working in museums. I
In 1990, after earning a Ph.D. in European Art at Case Western Reserve University, Holly left rainy Cleveland for sunny San Diego and began her museum career at the San Diego Museum of Art. As Associate Curator of European Art she began developing content-rich projects for museums using new technologies.
In 2000 she left the curatorial world, and sunny San Diego, to return to rainy Cleveland to lead the New Media Department at the Cleveland Museum of Art. In 2009 she left the museum and currently teaches online in the AAP Master of Arts in Museum Studies program for Johns Hopkins University, as well as in the classroom, at Case Western Reserve University where she is adjunct faculty in the Department of Art History. Holly is the Editor and Co-PI of the 2010 Horizon Report: Museum Edition.
She has served on the board of directors for MCN and as the AAM Board-appointed member of the National Committee for Archives, Libraries, and Museums (CALM). From 2002 to 2004 she served as a member of AAMâs Media and Technology Standing Professional Committee (M&T), and from 2004-2007 she served as Chair of M&T.
